The Bell Tower Ringers

The band was established in 2000 to provide regular ringing at the Bell Tower.
Since then we have trained many new ringers and welcomed visiting ringers from around the world.

About us

Ringing takes place twice a week, with additional practices at various times each month.

As the Bell Tower’s house band, we ring for weddings and other functions at the tower. We also ring for important occasions such as Anzac Day, and we have rung several times with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

There are social events throughout the year, including a summer party on the roof-top level of the Bell Tower.

The society owns a sizeable library of ringing reference books that members may borrow, and has the use of several sets of hand bells.

The annual membership fee is $20 for ordinary and associate members, and $10 for full-time students. For further details, please refer to the membership nomination form. Download the Membership Nomination Form 2020.

Ringing further afield in our region

There are many ringing opportunities throughout Australia and New Zealand.

In Western Australia there are eight rings of tower bells, plus two mini rings. All ringers are warmly welcomed to join the ringing at all towers.

Ringing in Australia is overseen by the Australian and New Zealand Association of Bellringers (ANZAB), which all ringers are encouraged to join. Each year ANZAB holds a festival in a different Australian state or New Zealand island. The festival schedule is full of ringing and social events and is always well attended. Western Australia last hosted the festival in June 2023.

ANZAB members receive the quarterly newsletter Ringing Towers.

Please see the ANZAB website for more information about its activities.

The WA branch of ANZAB organises joint practices throughout the year at the various Western Australian towers (see photo). The branch practices are a great chance to catch up with friends from other towers, and they are a fantastic opportunity for ringers to strengthen their skills on unfamiliar bells. The branch produces a quarterly newsletter called Look To! – it is packed with news and photos.
